DUNKIRK, Md., – Even as the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department prepared to celebrate its annual awards banquet on April 26, 2025, duty called early Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 12:19 p.m., Rescue Engine 5, Engine 51, Paramedic Ambulance 205, Chief 5A, and Chief 5B were dispatched to the southbound lanes of Route 4 near Briscoes Turn Road for reports of a motor vehicle accident, possibly involving a rollover.
Units arrived to find a three-vehicle crash with no entrapment. Chief 5A established command at the scene while EMS crews evaluated a total of three patients. Two individuals were subsequently transported to a local facility for further medical treatment. All patients were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries at the time of transport.
“We’re proud of our members for answering the call—whether it’s on the fireground, in the community, or moments before a night of celebration,” the department shared in a statement.

Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department always does a tremendous job for us in the
community. I cannot appreciate enough for what they do for us. My first donation always goes to them.
