In the race for State Senate for District 29 (lower Calvert, all of St. Maryโs and lower Charles County) incumbent Roy Dyson (D) is facing current President of the St. Mary’s County Commissioners, Tommy McKay (R).

Dyson is now serving his third term as State Senator, and previously served in the House of Delegates, when he was elected at 25, and later served in the House of Representatives.
McKay completes his first term as President of the St. Maryโs County Commissioners this November. McKay is also a delegate to the Republican National Convention and has worked in various managerial roles with his familyโs businesses, McKayโs Food and Drug Company and Woodburns.
Both men are lifelong residents of St. Maryโs County. Dyson was born in Great Mills and graduated from Great Mills High School. McKay graduated from Ryken High School. Bothย took classesย at the University of Maryland for a period.
