BENEDICT, Md. — A little rain couldn’t stop the generosity and joy that filled Serenity Farm last weekend during the annual Egg Hunt 4 Hunger, which was rescheduled to Sunday, April 13, due to inclement weather. Despite the last-minute shift, families across Southern Maryland turned out in full force to support Farming 4 Hunger, a nonprofit that works year-round to combat food insecurity in the region.
Hundreds of attendees gathered for a festive afternoon of egg hunts, laughter and community spirit. Children of all ages dashed through the hunting zones for candy-filled eggs and special Golden Egg prizes. Families enjoyed sweet treats, face painting and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny.

The turnout and community support were a powerful reminder that when we come together, even a little weather shift can’t dampen the impact of a good cause. Volunteers helped keep the day running smoothly, welcoming visitors and managing the various activities throughout the farm.
All proceeds from the event benefit Farming 4 Hunger, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that distributes more than 1 million pounds of locally grown, fresh food each year to families in need. The organization was founded in 2012 by Bernie Fowler Jr., whose mission is rooted in helping both people and farmers thrive.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who attended, donated and volunteered. Organizers say they are already looking forward to welcoming the community back for next year’s celebration.
