Elizabeth Ann Kless, lovingly known as Ann, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, in California, Maryland, at the age of 80.
Ann was born on March 7, 1945, in Leonardtown, Maryland, to Ernest Hilary Johnson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Milburn Johnson. She dedicated many years of her life as a state employee, where she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet dedication. Following her retirement, Ann devoted herself fully to her family, especially as a loving and tireless caregiver to her special-needs daughter. Caring for others was at the heart of who she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Hilary Johnson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Milburn Johnson, and by her brothers, Ernest Johnson Jr. and David Johnson and Nephew Kevin Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters, Karin Kless (Saint Augustine, FL) and Karla Kless (California,MD); her siblings, Lynn Ramsey of Lexington Park, Maryland, and Patrick Johnson of Laurel, Maryland; her grandchildren, Liza Wathen (Joshua), Kayla Marquis (Hunter), and Andrew Mirfield; and her great-grandchildren, Peyton, Paisley, River, and Violet.
Also survived by her nieces and nephews, Shelley, Charles Jr, Kimberly and Aaron.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joe Cwik officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
