BEL ALTON, Md. — After 27 unforgettable years of memories, music and mayhem, the iconic Apehangers Bar & Grill has officially been sold.
The announcement came in a heartfelt Facebook post on March 21, where longtime owners shared the news with loyal patrons and friends, marking the end of an era for the beloved Southern Maryland staple.
“It’s time,” the former owner wrote. “Alison and I have poured our hearts into Apehangers for nearly three decades. We’ve met the most incredible people, and it’s been an absolute honor.”
But fans, take a deep breath — the spirit of Apehangers isn’t going anywhere. Brandi Duffield, a familiar face with deep ties in the community, has officially taken the reins and is committed to keeping the vibe alive.
“She’s going to keep it the same — just with a little extra polish,” the former owner joked. “OK, maybe a lot!”
The same friendly bartenders will still be behind the bar, and regulars can expect the same rock ‘n’ roll heart that made Apehangers a regional favorite.
Apehangers has long been known not just for its nightlife, but for its strong ties to the community, regularly hosting fundraisers and supporting local causes.
“It’s just time for Alison and me to enjoy life a little more. We’re ready to trade the late nights for long days together — and maybe keep me out of trouble,” the former owner laughed. “Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all the support over the years. We love every single one of you.”
