Roosevelt T. Brooks

Prince Frederick, MDโ€”On July 19, Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office Sgt. McCourt responded to Calvert Towne Drive in Prince Frederick for the report of a fight in progress involving several males.

McCourt observed a crowd of approximately 10 people, some who appeared to be involved in a verbal altercation. McCourt approached and identified himself. One of the males involved in the verbal altercation–later identified as Roosevelt T. Brooks, 43, of Prince Frederick–appeared extremely agitated. He looked at McCourt and said, โ€œno one called you, we donโ€™t want you here,โ€ according to charging documents.

McCourt tried to ask Brooks what the problem was and he refused to answer. McCourt attempted to speak with others on the scene who appeared to be trying to de-escalate the altercation but none of them would advise what had occurred prior to his arrival.

McCourt heard Brooks continue to yell and act in a disorderly manner. McCourt heard Brooks yell at another male, โ€œthatโ€™s why I went upside your expletive head,โ€ according to charging documents. A large crowd had formed and Brooks continued to yell profanities.

McCourt then approached Brooks and asked him for his identification. Brooks refused to provide his i.d., instead he held it approximately two feet from McCourtโ€™s face. Brooks was placed under arrest and transported to Calvert County Detention Center, where he was charged with disorderly conduct.

Brooks has a court appearance scheduled for Sept 1 in District Court. Brooks faces a maximum jail sentence of two months and/or a maximum fine of $500.
