INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A Charles County man is being held without bond after authorities say he slashed a known acquaintance across the face during a confrontation at an Indian Head apartment complex on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025.

Deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were called to Summit Court around 8:45 a.m. after a report that a man had attacked another with a knife. Dispatchers noted the wound split across the victim’s mouth. Medics later described it as a severe facial laceration.

The suspect, 29-year-old Deonta Terrell Douglas, allegedly also tried to stab a woman before fleeing toward another building.

EMS staged until deputies secured the scene, then took the victim to an area trauma center for treatment. The man’s injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening.

Douglas was arrested later that day and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault. He was ordered to remain held without bond following a hearing on Sept. 2. District Court Judge Patrick J. Devine upheld the no-bond ruling.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1 in Charles District Court.
