WALDORF, Md. — The family of Bradrick Michael Wells is turning grief into action following his tragic death in a La Plata homicide that has deeply impacted the Southern Maryland community.
Wells, 27, of Waldorf, is remembered by loved ones as a kind and genuine person who brought a quiet strength to those around him. Family members say he had a passion for motocross and dirt bikes, was a car enthusiast who loved Ford and Chevy trucks, and had recently become a father to a baby girl — a role they say meant everything to him. His death in an act of gun violence has left his family and community mourning.
In the wake of the loss, his family has launched an effort to honor his life by creating a nonprofit foundation focused on gun violence awareness and mental health support.
According to the family, the initiative — referred to as the “Brad Foundation” — aims to provide resources and outreach for families coping with trauma, while also promoting mental health awareness in hopes of preventing similar tragedies in the future.
“This fundraiser will help us take the first steps in building this organization… aimed at supporting families, promoting mental health awareness, and working to stop gun violence before more lives are lost,” the family shared.
The effort is being supported through a GoFundMe campaign, which will help fund the early stages of the nonprofit, including advocacy and community outreach. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to Wells’ mother to support the foundation’s development and mission.
Family members say the goal is to ensure Wells’ life leaves a lasting impact by helping others and bringing awareness to the ongoing issue of gun violence.
“Brad’s life mattered, and his story deserves to make a lasting impact,” the family said. “Any support… means more than words can express during this unimaginable time.”

The case is connected to Dayton James Webber, 27, of La Plata, who has been charged in connection with Wells’ death and is currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center as the case moves forward.

It’s about time I see someone or something mentioning this man. The whole world is enamored with the amputee being charged with murder yet not one word being said about the man he killed.
