LAUREL, Md. – Homicide Unit detectives are actively working to arrest the suspect(s) who fatally shot a man in Laurel. The victim is 29-year-old Joseph Healy of Avebury Drive in Laurel. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.

On April 2, 2018, at approximately 2:15 pm, patrol officers responded to a shopping center in the 13000 block of Laurel Bowie Road for the report of a shooting. Healy was discovered in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He died later at a hospital. The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was shot on nearby Avebury Drive. He was then driven to the shopping center to get help.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) in this case.
