Fiery Crash Shuts Down St. Andrews Church Road

CALIFORNIA, Md. — A section of St. Andrews Church Road near Grammas Lane remains closed Thursday afternoon following a serious two-vehicle collision that left one vehicle engulfed in flames around 4:42 p.m.

First responders arrived to find one of the vehicles on fire and immediately began extinguishing the blaze while assessing two occupants for injuries.

Both patients were transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

The road is shut down for an extended period as crews work to clear debris and ensure the area was safe for reopening.

The investigation is ongoing.

  1. Widen the roads!
    Make them safer.
Put in a right turn lane at rt4 and FDR Blvd. Traffic light so traffic can move! Traffic backs up all the time there! Same coming out of Wildwood onto St. Andrews Rd. A clustered mess! Widen the roads to accommodate travellers, safely!

    1. BjC,
The road has full width shoulders where this wreck happened. How do you ‘make them safer’?…

While I agree, St. Andrews Church Rd DOES DESPERATELY NEED a dedicated right turn lane going East at FDR Blvd, and the intersection with Wildwood Pkwy would benefit with a large round-a-bout… neither of these hazardous bottlenecks are close to where the accident happened.
