GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A summer pool party turned chaotic on Friday, June 20, 2025, after a gunshot rang out during a fight, prompting a police response and leaving investigators searching for answers.

Anne Arundel County Police said officers were dispatched to the 7700 block of Freetown Road in Glen Burnie around 10:30 p.m. for a reported shooting. When they arrived, the scene was already quieting down — the majority of partygoers had fled, and those who remained offered little insight.

According to investigators, a large crowd had gathered for a pool party when an altercation broke out among several guests. At some point during the confrontation, an unknown suspect discharged a single round into the air and then fled the area.

Officers recovered a 9mm shell casing at the scene, but found no injuries and no immediate witnesses willing to cooperate.

Now, Northern District detectives are working to piece together what happened, hampered by the lack of available statements and limited evidence.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information about the suspect to come forward. Tips can be shared directly with detectives at 410-222-6135. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

The investigation remains ongoing.

  1. “no immediate witnesses willing to cooperate.”

Sums it up. If they don’t want to help, why should we keep providing services?
