CALLAWAY, Md. – Today, at approximately 8:53 a.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the structure fire with subjects reported to be trapped inside at Take It Easy Ranch Campgrounds in Callaway.
Crews arrived on the scene and found the camper showing smoke with fire coming from inside. Upon arrival the occupants were able to escape. Firefighters held a few units and returned the balance of the assignment. Reporting one subject requiring medical attention for smoke inhalation.
The Fire Marshal has been requested to the scene to investigate a possible arson. SMECO has also been requested to shut off power.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
