Crews Battle Two-Alarm Apartment Fire In Waldorf

UPDATE – 6/10/2024 – Fire At New Forest Apartments Deemed Accidental, Two Firefighters Injured

WALDORF, Md. — Fire and rescue personnel responded to a multi-dwelling structure fire in the 6000 block of New Forest Court at approximately 10:30 a.m., on June 8, 2024. The 911 communications center received multiple calls reporting the incident.

Upon arrival, crews found an apartment building with visible flames showing from the 1st and 2nd floors, as well as through the roof of the complex. A 2nd alarm was dispatched immediately.

Firefighters managed to gain control of the fire within 20 minutes, but extensive mop-up operations were required. Crews remained on the scene for approximately three hours.

The Red Cross was notified and is assisting the displaced families.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
