BRYANS ROAD, Md. — A quick fire department response kept damage to a minimum after a mattress fire broke out inside a Bryans Road home early Thursday morning.
Firefighters were dispatched around 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, to the 5400 block of Sir Douglas Drive, where callers reported a house fire. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of a two-story single-family dwelling.
Bryans Road Engine 112 stretched a hose line to the second floor, where they located a mattress burning inside a bedroom. The fire was knocked down quickly, and crews carried the mattress out through the front door to prevent further damage to the home.

Fire officials said searches were conducted to ensure no one was trapped, and ventilation crews worked to clear smoke from the structure. Units operated for about 45 minutes before returning to service.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
