LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Firefighters responded to a two-story home in Leonardtown early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025, after a fire broke out on the second floor, prompting a swift multi-agency response.

The alarm came in around 7:58 a.m. for a reported structure fire in the 20000 block of Willow Bottom Farm Lane. Upon arrival, first responders encountered visible smoke and active flames emanating from the upper level of the residence.

Crews wasted no time in launching an interior attack. The bulk of the fire was quickly brought under control, though firefighters remained on scene to check for further extension and extinguish hidden pockets of fire inside the walls.

No injuries were reported, and all occupants were accounted for, according to officials at the scene.

Power company SMECO was requested to assist with securing electrical utilities to the structure. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was also notified and is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.

As of mid-morning Wednesday, crews were still working at the property to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the scene rendered safe.
