Firefighters Respond To House Fully Engulfed In Port Republic

PORT REPUBLIC, Md. – On January 9, 2025, at approximately 12:22 p.m., fire and rescue personnel responded to a structure fire on Cortona Drive near Ball Road.

Crews arrived with a well-advanced fire throughout the two-story home, and people on the scene were attempting to get dogs out. Firefighters began to make an interior attack, shortly having to back out due to partial collapse of the home. Command made the decision thereafter to move all efforts to defensive operations due to the lack of integrity within the home. Following this decision, the home collapsed on itself.
