First Colony Wine & Spirits Opens In St. Mary’s County

CALIFORNIA, Md. — St. Mary’s County has a new destination for wine, spirits and craft beer lovers with the grand opening of First Colony Wine & Spirits on Friday, Aug. 8, marked by a ribbon-cutting hosted by the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce.

Located in the First Colony Shopping Center between Giant and Target, the high-end liquor store drew a steady stream of customers and connoisseurs eager to explore its selection. Inside, rows of neatly displayed bottles — ranging from rare vintages and small-batch whiskeys to craft beer favorites — deliver a shopping experience focused on quality choices for the community.

The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce joined owners and staff for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially welcome the business. Many attendees called the location “perfect,” noting its convenience for quick stops as well as larger shopping trips.

  1. Yet another liquor store in the county where you can trip over a liquor store going to the liquor store. Did we really NEED one there? Might as well put one next to Old Navy now that way the chain will be complete, a liquor store in every shopping center/strip mall. Well done everyone!

  2. We have enough places that sell alcohol!!!! How about stuff for our kids in the community! That would be good for OUR COMMUNITY!

  3. We have new cadets in both local and state police that need more on the job experience so it’s perfect for them as they’ll need these types of interactions under their belt.
