Waldorf, MD – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs announced the signing of former major league infielder Steve Lombardozzi on Monday. Lombardozzi, 27, joins the Blue Crabs following stints with the Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles, and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Lombardozzi graduated from Alholton High School in Columbia, MD in 2007, and he saw his best year in 2012 while playing for the Nationals on their first division winning team. During that season, Lombardozzi recorded a .273 average in 126 games played, including 3 HR, 27 RBI, and 16 doubles.
During his five seasons in the big leagues, Lombardozzi posted a .263 batting average in 257 games. While in the minors, he recorded a .293 batting average with a .387 slugging percentage.
Most recently, Lombardozzi played with the AAA Indianapolis Indians, where he posted a .282 BA in 97 games played.

Lombardozzi is expected to be on the Opening Day Roster on April 21 at 7:05 at Regency Furniture Stadium.
