LA PLATA, Md. — Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand Thursday, Aug. 14, to help parents and caregivers ensure their car seats are installed correctly during a free safety check at the Charles County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Company 51, on Calvert Street.
The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. and offers one-on-one guidance on car seat installation, use, and adjustments as children grow. Each appointment takes about 45 minutes per seat.
Attendees are encouraged to pre-install seats, know their child’s height and weight, and bring both car seat and vehicle owner’s manuals. Organizers say these checks can help prevent injuries by catching common installation mistakes.
A second check is scheduled for Nov. 13 at the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, Westlake Station.
