A free daylong seminar discussing the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code and ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2007 Energy Standards for Residential Construction will be offered on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Forrest Career and Technology Center in Leonardtown from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

ย Attendance is limited; early registration is recommended for this course offered by the Maryland Energy Administration and the Maryland State Codes Administration. Look for โ€œResidential Provisions of the 2009 IECC.โ€ Attendees will receive six CEUโ€™s, all code books, workbooks, instructional materials, continental breakfast and lunch.

ย The course will provide an overview of the core concepts of the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as they apply to residential buildings. Participants will learn how key provisions of the code should be applied during building design, construction, and renovation. Participants will also learn how to evaluate code compliance during plan review and inspection. Key building science concepts will be presented to explain how code requirements relate to energy use. Typical code compliance failures will be highlighted with strategies for enforcing provisions that yield the greatest energy savings.
