HUGHESVILLE, Md. — The Southern Maryland chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is teaming up with the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department to host its annual “Freedom Bash” fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025.

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the Hughesville firehouse, 15245 Prince Frederick Road, with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. The afternoon will feature 25 prize drawings, raffles, a silent auction, live music, and a buffet meal.

“We have teamed up with the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department to host a fundraiser that will be used to help support the community,” said Steven Berry, president of the Southern Maryland chapter.

Berry said the chapter, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, takes more than 150 children hunting and fishing each year, provides hunter safety education, and offers a women’s program introducing women to the outdoors. The group also supports 4-H youth by purchasing animals at fair auctions and sponsoring teams, awards scholarships to local students, and donates to area food banks and the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.

Tickets are $100 for attendees, which include food, soft drinks, seltzers and beer, or $75 for non-attendees who still want to participate in prize drawings. Winners will be announced every 10 minutes beginning at noon, with prizes including cash, firearms and outdoor gear.

Additional chances to win include a “Wall of Guns” raffle, where winners select from a list of firearms and ammunition, a Yeti cooler tower raffle, side raffles, and a 50/50 cash raffle.

Live entertainment will feature Colton James, Chris Turner and Todd Good. A buffet-style meal of fried chicken, barbecue and sides will be served throughout the afternoon.
