INDIAN HEAD, Md. — When talent meets discipline and purpose, something powerful happens. For Jaden Hendricks, a junior at Bowie State University, that moment will be on full display as he takes center stage as the featured artist at the 2025 Charles County ArtsFest, held at the Indian Head Village Green and Pavilion.
The honor is more than a title — it’s a testament to years of artistic excellence, community engagement and a relentless drive to create. At the event, Jaden will not only showcase a curated selection of his original pieces, but he’ll also create live artwork in real time, giving festival-goers an up-close look at his creative process.

A Charles County Arts Alliance scholarship recipient and lifelong member since the third grade, Hendricks has been steadily building a résumé that stretches far beyond his years. His award-winning artwork has been displayed at prestigious venues such as Walter Reed Medical Center, Bowie City Hall, the Greenbelt Courthouse, Gallery 4% in San Francisco and in a solo exhibit at the Charles County Commissioners Gallery in La Plata — a feature that recently earned him recognition on WUSA9’s Uplifted segment.
Among his most celebrated pieces is J’ Petal People, a whimsical, thought-provoking work that has been officially copyrighted with the Library of Congress. Another piece, He Did It, made it to the final round of a national scholarship competition hosted by the Gallery Collection Card Company.

But Jaden’s impact isn’t just in galleries — it’s in communities. He helped paint a public mural, led a sip-and-paint night for a nonprofit organization and most recently took first place in an art contest at the Rockville Arts Festival.
“I just love creating,” Jaden shared in a recent conversation. “I use art as a way to communicate my feelings at the given moment.”
At just 21 years old, Jaden Hendricks represents the next wave of artistic brilliance emerging from Southern Maryland. With bold lines, thoughtful imagery and a genuine connection to his community, his work reflects not only his vision — but his heart.
As the crowd gathers at ArtsFest, it won’t just be for the art. It’ll be for the artist — a young man who’s made every canvas count.

Absolutely stunning artwork! Young and talented with a very bright future as an artist.
I really enjoyed this piece.
Especially like the fact that it’s in a local paper The Baynet, about a local artist written by a local reporter!!
