LUSBY, Md. – Two Lusby residents were displaced after a portable generator caused a fire that destroyed their home, Saturday morning.ย 

On Aug. 11, 6:33 a.m., crews form the Solomons Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 13000 block of Mill Creek Road, Lusby for the report of a fire. Firefighters arrived on scene and discovered a one-story, wood framed home with a fully involved fire. Twenty-eight firefighters battled the blaze and extinguished the fire in 40 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $225,000 worth of damage to the property.ย ย 

An investigation revealed that a portable generator being used to provide electricity to residence set fire to a nearby doghouse behind the home which then spread to the rest of the residence.

Nobody injuries were reported from the fire and the residents are being assisted by family members.ย
