GoFundMe Created For Two First Responders Involved In Serious Accident

ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – On February 8, 2024, Todd Bowman and Dr. Jason Finkelstein were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on Hollywood Road near McIntosh Road. Upon arrival, crews found their St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services, SUV off the roadway, fully engulfed in flames, after colliding with a tree.

Both Todd and Jason were fortunately rescued by a brave bystander and two Maryland State Troopers. The pair were admitted to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Now, a GoFundMe page has been started to help Todd, Jason, and their families during these tough times. So far, due to the amazing support of the Southern Maryland community, the fundraiser has raised over $7,000 as of this report.

“Both of them have a long road to recovery and will have an enormous amount of medical bills, If you would like to donate please do. They are both great people, please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers,” said the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department via a Facebook post.

“We are immensely grateful to our incredible community and partners for their swift response and unwavering support following the recent motor vehicle accident involving two members of our Department of Emergency Services team,” said the St. Mary’s County Government.

“Our team members are receiving top-notch trauma care as they continue to recover from serious injuries. Their access to this treatment is thanks to the bravery of a citizen and two Maryland State Troopers, who rescued these critically injured employees from a burning vehicle. These selfless actions truly made a difference in this emergency. Organizations far and wide have offered assistance and resources. We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support and concern for our team members and for the rest of our Emergency Services Department.”
