GREAT MILLS, Md. — Emergency crews rushed two people to the hospital Sunday afternoon. The transport followed a serious, head-on style Great Mills crash that left one person trapped in their vehicle. The collision happened around 3:29 p.m. at the busy intersection of Chancellors Run Road and FDR Boulevard.

A major emergency response from St. Mary’s County Fire & EMS descended on the scene. Upon arrival, fire department crews found the two-vehicle wreckage and confirmed one person was trapped. Subsequently, firefighters worked quickly, completing the difficult extrication in approximately five minutes. Afterward, emergency medical personnel evaluated multiple people at the scene and transported two patients by ambulance to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, the intersection of Chancellors Run Road and FDR Boulevard is one of the most heavily trafficked areas in Great Mills and has been the site of numerous accidents. This Great Mills crash shut down the intersection for an extended period, causing significant traffic delays. Meanwhile, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation into the cause of the collision.
