Operation Warrior Refuge (OWR), a local non-profit 501(C)(3) organization that provides equine-assisted therapy to Veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, will host their July Benefit Concert featuring music performances by Donald Quade, Lead Singer for Drivin’ Muzzy, Trevor Barnes, and Bradley Turner at local Vineyard, The Running Hare on July 9, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
“The reason our slogan is ‘Combat 22’ is because there are 22 Veterans who commit suicide every day due to the invisible wounds they carry with them from combat” said Sarah Williams, Warrior Advocate for Operation Warrior Refuge. “With horses, soldiers can physically work through their Post-Traumatic Stress instead of having to communicate what they are feeling to a person, they are communicating with a horse. By doing this, we can help heal their invisible wounds and reduce the number of veteran suicide in the Southern Maryland, and hopefully one day throughout the U.S.”
Drivin’ Muzzy is committed to helping enrich their community through their love of music. Joining forces with Operation Warrior Refuge to help combat 22 through fundraising events is just one more way they can give back to their Southern Maryland Veterans and First Responders.
“We as Drivin Muzzy are happy to help OWR any way we can. We will always be in debt to our military and first responders who help protect and keep us safe without hesitation. Our drummer and guitar player’s father is a recent retiree from the Navy, our bassist’s father-in-law is active in the Navy and my brother-in-law is in the Air Force along with countless others cousins and uncles who have served. We are proud to help out OWR anyway we can and we will continue to do so for as long as we are playing music. There is no better way in giving back to the community than giving back to those who give up so much so we can live free and happy” said Donald Quade, Lead Singer of Drivin’ Muzzy.
