WALDORF, Md. — A Laurel man is facing felony charges after investigators say he carried out a coordinated theft scheme targeting a Home Depot store in Charles County.
Jaroth Armando Ralon Perez, 26, of Laurel, has been charged with theft and theft scheme involving property valued between $1,500 and $25,000 in connection with incidents that occurred on March 10, 2026.
According to charging documents, the investigation began after loss prevention personnel at Home Depot reported a theft involving Milwaukee-brand power tools at the store located on Jefferson Farm Place in Waldorf.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed Perez entering the store with two other individuals and proceeding to the tool section, where they accessed secured merchandise. The group allegedly removed multiple high-value cordless drills and related equipment before placing the items into a shopping cart.
Authorities say the suspects then exited the store without making payment, passing all points of sale. The total value of the stolen merchandise was estimated at approximately $5,360 and included numerous Milwaukee M18 drills and accessories.
Investigators further determined the theft was part of a larger, ongoing scheme. Documents indicate similar activity occurred on a prior date, with Perez allegedly using the same method alongside accomplices, suggesting a continuing course of conduct.
Police identified Perez through surveillance footage and prior encounters, confirming his identity by comparing video images with official records.
Charging documents state the stolen items included multiple M18 and M18 Fuel drills, combo kits and generators taken during the incident.
A summons was issued on March 20, 2026.
A preliminary inquiry hearing is set for May 4, 2026, in Charles District Court.

Article doesn’t mention how he managed to access secured merchandise. Was it simply asking for it and walking out? Maybe humans should be employed to check for that instead of self service kiosks.
