CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. — A Mechanicsville man is facing multiple assault charges following a confrontation outside a local bar in May that, according to court filings, ended with a handgun allegedly drawn and pointed at two individuals.

Kenneth James Dickerson, 41, was arrested nearly two months after the alleged incident, following the execution of a warrant issued in early July. He is now charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree assault.

According to the statement of probable cause filed by Deputy Donaldson of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, the confrontation occurred on May 15 outside Heavy Hitters Bar and Grill on Three Notch Road. One of the two men who reported the incident told authorities that during an argument, Dickerson unzipped his leather jacket and retrieved a black handgun, allegedly pressing it to the man’s forehead before directing him to leave the property. The same witness said Dickerson then turned the weapon on another individual nearby.

A second man reportedly witnessed the event and told deputies that Dickerson had drawn the weapon and aimed it in his direction. Both men are said to have provided statements and confirmed the identity of the alleged assailant. Investigators said they used social media to verify Dickerson’s identity through state databases.

Attempts to locate and question Dickerson after the event were unsuccessful, according to court documents. Deputies said they made multiple visits to his Mechanicsville residence and left messages via phone before seeking an arrest warrant.

The arrest occurred on July 14. At a bond review hearing the following day, Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser released Dickerson on his own recognizance. Official records identify his attorney as Thomas Fabrian Matthews of Restoration Law LLC.

The charges include two counts of first-degree assault, which carry a maximum sentence of 25 years each upon conviction. The case remains open, and all allegations are pending adjudication in St. Mary’s County District Court.

  1. Come on Judge. Accused of a violent crime with a handgun and gets PR. Should be held in DOC.
