ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – St. Mary’s County Special Olympics is reaching out to family, friends, and community members with a request for support as its adult league basketball team prepares to represent Team Maryland at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.

Local athletes have been training for months and were selected to represent Team Maryland in the Special Olympics USA Games. The team must raise $30,000 by June 1, 2026, in order to participate.

Funds raised will cover the team’s cost of travel and participation in the Minnesota games this year. Athletes have committed to weekly training, travel for qualifiers, and additional practices to reach this goal and earn the opportunity to compete on a national stage.

Community support will help these athletes, their coaches, and their families as they prepare for this opportunity. Organizers are encouraging residents to donate and share the information to help Team Maryland Basketball showcase local talent at the national level.

Donations can be made using the QR code provided on the official flyer. No cash donations are accepted.

Supporters are encouraged to help St. Mary’s County athletes reach their fundraising goal and represent Southern Maryland at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.
