CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — The Charles County Garden Club will sponsor the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage Tour in Charles County as part of the nation’s semiquincentennial celebrations in 2026.

The Charles County Garden Club announced on Facebook that the tour is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, and will highlight historic homes, gardens and landmarks across Charles County. The event commemorates 250 years of American history, celebrating Patriots from 1776 to 2026 and their contributions across generations.

Featured tour locations include Sye Park/Floating Lotus Farmstead, Pleasant Hill, Thomas Stone National Historic Site, Mulberry Grove, Hillmann Residence, St. Ignatius Church and Manor House, and Rich Hill, according to the Charles County Garden Club.

Proceeds from the tour will support the construction of a “Ghost Cabin Structure” to be erected on the footprint of an enslaved cabin at Rich Hill, providing historical context and preservation of the site.

Tour bell passes are currently available through the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage for $40 through Jan. 31, 2026. After that date, tickets will increase to $50 plus handling fees, with day-of tickets priced at $60 plus handling fees. Organizers note that handling fees may be avoided by contacting Bonnie Rafer at br6160@aol.com.

Additional information and ticket purchases are available at www.mhgp.org/charlescounty.

The Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving Maryland’s historically and culturally significant properties through annual tours held across the state. The organization distributes tour proceeds to support long-term preservation efforts at participating properties and counties.
