On August 29th, Sheriff’s Officer Deputy Patrick Handy responded to a call for a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival he encountered the female half of the disturbance, Vinaya Rathnaamahi Solomon (Age 39 of Great Mills) suffering from a large contusion to her head. It was revealed that during a verbal dispute her husband had assaulted her by punching her in the head with a closed fist. The victim refused medical treatment.
The husband, Rajendra Charles Solomon (Age 62 of Great Mills) was located inside the marital home, suffering from minor stab wounds to his arm.
Although the husband stated that the wounds were sustained in “self defense” that is not what the evidence suggested. As the investigation continued it was discovered that the wounds to the man were self inflicted.
Solomon was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault and False Statement to an Officer.
