CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. – Mayor Patrick “Irish” Mahoney spurs Beach Elementary School students imaginations as they pondered all the things they could accomplish as Mayor.
Each year, Mayor Mahoney spends time with students to provide insight into what it takes to run a municipal government, by exploring the challenges and significant responsibility for serving town citizens.
The Maryland Municipal League (MML) holds the annual “If I Were Mayor, I Would…” essay contest, which is the League’s oldest ambassador program. The 24-year-old contest educates fourth graders (and teachers) about municipal government and the role of the Mayor with Beach Elementary School students receiving awards many times over the 24 year period.

We look forward to seeing Beach Elementary School students’ submissions and hearing your ideas for improving the Town of Chesapeake Beach.

Yeah like teaching them how to gouge people by doubling the water bills of North Beach by raising rates by 65% or better and 100% on administrative fees. Shameful! It wasn’t bad enough being told I had city water when in fact it a community well with nasty water. SMH. I’m glad he’s not talking to my kids or grand kids. They need to hear from a crook!
