INDIAN HEAD, Md. — An Indian Head man is facing criminal charges after allegedly violating a protective order by entering property where he was specifically prohibited from being present. Marcus Antonia Washington, 36, was charged with violating a protective order following a September incident that was captured on surveillance footage, according to charging documents.
Officials said Washington allegedly violated the terms of a final protective order issued April 8, 2025, by Judge Kenneth A. Talley. The order barred Washington from entering the petitioner’s residence in Indian Head, including the surrounding yard, outbuildings and common areas.
Court records state the violation occurred on Sept. 1, 2025, when surveillance footage reportedly captured Washington on the property. The petitioner’s mother provided the footage to authorities, showing an individual identified as Washington despite the protective order. Charging documents note the order had been served on Washington the same day it was issued and remains in effect until April 8, 2026.
Charles County Sheriff’s Deputy A. Masoero investigated the report. According to court filings, Masoero reviewed the surveillance footage and compared it with records in the sheriff’s office database, concluding that Washington was the person depicted.
Washington faces one misdemeanor charge of violating a protective order under Maryland Family Law Section 4-509. Under Maryland law, a first offense carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Subsequent offenses may result in up to one year in jail and fines of up to $2,500.
Court records show Washington was issued a summons on Sept. 11 rather than an arrest warrant. A preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Oct. 27, 2025, in Charles County District Court in La Plata.
The State’s Attorney’s Office for Charles County is prosecuting the case. All proceedings are scheduled to take place in Charles County District Court in La Plata.
