Report based on Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department’s recap of crash
On Saturday, Sept. 5, just after 10 a.m., Rescue 2, and EMS Stations 29 and 59 were alerted to Yowaiski Mill Road and Mechanicsville Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle into a pole, and one person unconscious. Rescue units all went en route with 11 volunteers just after dispatch.
Responders arrived to find a vehicle that side swiped a pole with the operator trapped. The rescue crew removed the driver’s door to free the operator.
The injured motorist was flown to a Washington, DC area hospital.

Mechanicsville, MD – One person was flown Saturday morning, Sept. 5 from a motor-vehicle accident scene, St. Mary’s County authorities reported.
The crash occurred around 10 a.m. on Yowaiski Road in the area of Mechanicsville Road. The injured person has not been identified and the accident remains under investigation.
Advisory: The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday, Sept. 5 at 10:30 a.m. that Yowaiski Mill Road in St. Mary’s County is closed in the area of Mechanicsville Road due to an accident. Avoid the area.
