WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf woman is facing a felony first-degree assault charge following an early January incident in Charles County that police say involved a knife and prompted a rapid law enforcement response.
Tia Nicole Williams, 20, was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, after deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Westdale Drive for a reported assault in progress. According to charging documents, officers made contact with an adult male at the home who reported that Williams had arrived earlier that evening.
Police said Williams appeared heavily intoxicated and became increasingly belligerent while inside the residence. When the man attempted to take her home in his vehicle, she refused. He then began making arrangements for alternative transportation.
Investigators reported that Williams exited the vehicle, placed her belongings near a nearby recycling bin, and began searching through a bag. Police say she then retrieved a knife with brass knuckles attached and advanced toward the man in a threatening manner while holding the weapon.
The man retreated into the residence and contacted emergency services. Deputies arrived within minutes. Officers noted that Williams’ behavior included physical aggression, spitting, and advancing toward the individual while armed.
Based on those actions, deputies determined there was probable cause to charge Williams with first-degree assault, alleging she attempted to cause serious physical injury using a deadly weapon.
Williams was identified through her state-issued identification and taken into custody. Court records show she was charged with one count of first-degree assault, a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
She was released on her own recognizance following her arrest. A preliminary inquiry hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2026, in Charles County District Court.

I want to know what he had been doing to her to cause that kind of reaction. I do not condone violence and I also do not condone false police reports and Bay Net News bad reporting. Facts are critical when you are smearing people in public. I’m sure this women wasn’t at her best either. How about a follow up on the incident from the court room. Or maybe from the alleged victim and alleged perpetrator. The baynet seems awfully one-sided to me.
