LA PLATA, Md. American Legion Post 82, in partnership with LifeStyles of Maryland, will host a Shutdown Support Food Relief Distribution on Sunday, Nov. 23, offering assistance to active-duty military, veterans, and federal workers affected by ongoing financial uncertainty.

Although the shutdown has ended, many military families, veterans, and federal employees are still facing the ripple effects of missed paychecks and rising household expenses. This food relief event aims to ease that burden by providing essential groceries and household items to those in need.

The distribution will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 101 Catalpa Dr. in La Plata and will operate while supplies last. Organizers ask attendees to bring a government-issued ID, military ID, or proof of service.

Volunteers from partnering organizations will be on-site to help load goods and maintain traffic flow.

The effort reflects an ongoing collaboration between American Legion Post 82 and LifeStyles of Maryland, both of which frequently coordinate community support programs throughout Southern Maryland.

For more information about local relief resources and support programs, residents can contact LifeStyles of Maryland or visit American Legion Post 82 for updates.
