WALDORF, Md. — Land clearing has begun along the northbound side of U.S. Route 301 near Billingsley Road for the planned relocation of Bayside Kia of Waldorf.

The work is taking place within the South Park East development area, where the dealership is expected to relocate from its current location at 3188 Crain Highway in Waldorf.

The Charles County Planning Commission reviewed the project during its Feb. 3, 2025, meeting, when commissioners approved modifications to previously established conditions related to required roadway improvements tied to the development.

Plans call for the dealership to relocate to an approximately 35,216-square-foot facility as part of Phase 1 of the South Park East development.

Traffic safety and traffic flow along Billingsley Road, Old Washington Road and U.S. 301 were also discussed during the review, including turning movements, future traffic from later development phases and potential safety improvements.

During that meeting, Planning Supervisor Heather Kelley, AICP, said the Bayside Kia relocation represents just one phase of a larger multi-phase development planned for the area.
