LEONARDTOWN, Md. โ Fire crews responded to a large brush fire off St. Margarets Drive on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025. The call came in at approximately 3:18 p.m., with reports of flames spreading through a wooded area.
According to dispatch, a caller reported seeing a male yelling for the fire department while observing what appeared to be an active fire. The caller was unable to provide an exact address but indicated the fire was in the woods near St. Margarets Drive.
Upon arrival, responding units reported a large column of smoke in the area. Incident command established Level 2 staging and requested additional brush fire task force support. Firefighters estimated the blaze had already spread across two to three acres, with some minor extension to a nearby residential property.
Efforts to contain the fire were underway, with crews working to prevent further spread. Additional units were dispatched to the scene to assist with extinguishment operations.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and no injuries have been reported at this time.
