LEONARDTOWN, Md. โ Two people sustained injuries Saturday morning when their vehicle overturned and landed on its side in a ditch near Leonardtown. Emergency responders classified the incident as a high-mechanism crash, indicating significant force was involved in the collision.
The Leonardtown vehicle crash occurred at Point Lookout Road and Clarks Rest Road around 7:25 a.m. on September 6, 2025. According to dispatch, the vehicle came to rest on its side in a roadside ditch. Subsequently, multiple St. Mary’s County emergency units responded to assist the occupants.
Paramedics classified both victims as requiring Basic Life Support care with medical unit transport. Furthermore, emergency crews worked systematically to extract patients from the overturned vehicle through removal of the vehicle’s windshield.
The crash scene required coordination between fire suppression units and emergency medical personnel. Multiple emergency units responded. Meanwhile, rescue teams assessed the stability of the overturned vehicle before patient extraction.
Emergency crews transported at least one victim to a local hospital for treatment. Both patients received immediate medical assessment at the scene. The cause of the rollover remains under investigation by authorities.
