Lexington Park man charged with theft and identity fraud

Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack Trooper E. Krenik responded to the CVS Pharmacy in California on Monday, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. for a reported theft.

The complainant advised an unknown suspect had stolen his prescription and credit cards.  After surveying video footage, the suspect was identified as Vernon E. Grinder, 45, of Lexington Park.

A short time later, Mr. Grinder was located carrying two Dick’s Sporting Goods bags on Lexington Village Way and Rt 235.  Mr. Grinder had used the stolen credit card to purchase items at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Mr. Grinder was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with Theft Less Than $100, Theft $100 to Less Than $1000, and Fraud Identity Theft Less Than $1000.

He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
