LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Tavon Irving Huffin, 35, of Lexington Park, was arrested on Nov. 25, 2025, and charged with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia and CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis. Huffin is scheduled for trial on Jan. 13, 2026. He also has an unrelated pending case for second-degree assault stemming from an incident reported in October 2025, with a trial scheduled for Dec. 2, 2025.

According to police records, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office (SMCSO) deputies encountered a male and female around 1 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2025, in Nicolet Park. After identifying the male as Tavon Irving Huffin and confirming the information with dispatch, deputies learned he had an active warrant. A search conducted during the arrest reportedly resulted in the recovery of a glass smoking device with white residue, a long metal smoking device and a small clear container holding a white powdery substance. Huffin was placed under arrest without further incident.

According to court documents, Huffin is also the defendant in a separate case involving an alleged domestic assault. On Oct. 3, 2025, deputies responded to a residence in Lexington Park for a reported incident. The complainant told officers that between approximately 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., she and Huffin were walking in the Patuxent Homes subdivision when an argument occurred. The complainant alleged that Huffin became upset during the argument and struck her twice in the face with a closed fist and placed his hands around her neck. Deputies noted in their report that the individual did not show visible neck injuries but did have a cut and redness on her left cheek consistent with her statement.

Huffin was not at the scene when deputies arrived. Officers were advised that he might be staying with a friend at Cabot Place, but no one answered when deputies attempted contact. He was later located by law enforcement. According to police, Huffin denied any physical altercation occurred and stated that the two had argued, and that he was shoved by the complainant, prompting him to shove her back.

Huffin is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 2, 2025, for the second-degree assault charge, and on Jan. 13, 2026, for the CDS-related charges. Under Maryland law, CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis carries a maximum penalty of up to four years of incarceration. CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia is punishable by up to one year of incarceration. Second-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years of incarceration and fines upon conviction.
