
CALLAWAY, Md. — A two-vehicle crash involving an impaired driver left one woman injured and required a MEDEVAC late Saturday evening, November 2, 2024.
The incident occurred just after 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of Take It Easy Ranch Road and Piney Point Road in Callaway.
Emergency crews arrived to find two vehicles severely damaged and a woman in her late 20s needing immediate medical attention. First responders reported that one male driver appeared impaired.
Firefighters established a landing zone nearby for Maryland State Police, Trooper 7 to airlift the injured woman to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for further care. No other injuries were reported.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene conducted a Field Sobriety Test on the male driver, identified as Samuel Alexander Labeach, 24, of Lexington Park. Labeach failed the test and was taken into custody shortly after. Charges filed against Labeach include:
- (Driving, Attempting To Drive) Veh. While Impaired By Alcohol
- (Driving, Attempting To Drive) Vehicle While Under The Influence Of Alcohol Per Se
- Driver Failure To Obey Properly Placed Traffic Control Device Instructions
- (Driving, Attempting To Drive) Vehicle While Under The Influence Of Alcohol
- Reckless Driving
- Negligent Driving
Following his arrest, Deputy Reppel transported Labeach to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. Labeach was later released on an unsecured personal bond of $3,500 on November 4.
He is scheduled to appear for a court hearing on December 19, 2024, at the St. Mary’s District Courthouse. Further updates on the woman’s condition have not been provided at this time

Here we go again. Arrested then released so he can commit the same crime. People need to be held accountable for their actions or they will continue to do the same things. It’s common sense here I am not sure why judges can’t see it!
