MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A routine traffic stop in St. Mary’s County resulted in two arrests after troopers discovered drugs and loaded firearms inside a vehicle.

On Feb. 20, TFC Eckrich conducted a traffic stop on Loveville Road at Coonhunters Road in Mechanicsville. Upon approaching the vehicle, police observed suspected cocaine in plain view, prompting a further investigation.

The driver, identified as Patrick Wayne Wood II, 23, of Clements, and the passenger, Debra Victoria Johnson, 24, of Mechanicsville, were taken into custody following a search. Officers recovered a loaded rifle, a loaded revolver, and additional suspected cocaine inside the vehicle. A further search of Wood revealed more suspected cocaine.

Wood was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with multiple drug and firearm offenses, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) not cannabis, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and illegally carrying a handgun in a vehicle and on his person. He is being held without bond.

Johnson, who was found to have an active warrant for a probation violation, was also arrested and charged with drug-related offenses. She was booked at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and later released on her own recognizance.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court on April 10, 2025.

  1. The police overlooked a charge on this one. Why are they not charged with poss/w intent to distribute?🤔

  2. Active warrant for probation violation and given PR. She was given a deal once and the Judge seems to forget that. Judges to live up to their commitment to enforce the law.

    1. And how about stealing and carrying loaded guns. It’s a shame and our State’s Attorney should crack down on these two!!! Especially, Patrick Wood. He is known in this county as many things and one of them being a thief and we continue to allow him out in the public to harm any of us!! It’s a shame to sit and do nothing because our jails are “too crowded”. He gets out again, and who knows what he is a capable of at this point.
