CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. – Christine Trent, a St. Mary’s resident, author, and publisher will be answering all your questions about publishing a successful book on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the St. Mary’s County Library in Charlotte Hall starting at 6 pm.

Trent is a published historical fiction/historical mystery author whose books take place in the St. Mary’s County area in which she has lived in for 30-plus years.

“I love this area and I am proud to live here,” Trent told The BayNet.

Trent got her start in writing in 2003, she states, “As I got further along, I got more serious. In getting serious, I began attending writing workshops and conferences. I finished that first novel, The Queen’s Dollmaker in 2006.”

Trent’s most recent successful project St. Clement Bluff is sure to be that mystery you’re looking for. The book’s summary states, “Raleigh Bishop’s perfect life in rural St. Mary’s County has just come to a shattering end. Her naval test pilot husband, Grant, has been killed in a flight accident, and Raleigh is left to pick up the brittle shards of that life. She prefers to stay hidden away in her grief but is unwillingly dragged out of it by the contents of her husband’s will, which contains a shocking bequest…”

As far as Trent’s upcoming event, she plans to help guide those who may be at the start of their writing journey’s through the process of publishing.

“I am what is known as a ‘hybrid’ author, meaning I am traditionally published by several New York publishers, and I also have self-published books. Thus, I have considerable experience in both methods of publishing,” said Trent.

“I’m going to do a Q&A free-for-all where attendees can ask me whatever they want about publishing and writing…I look forward to sharing what I know.”
