proposed 30 million dollar park lusby md data center

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Real estate developer Natelli Holdings will present a proposal at the upcoming March 24 Calvert County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) meeting. The proposal presentation for a data center in Calvert County will also incorporate a $30 million investment for building a park.

According to Tuesday’s agenda, accompanied by a memo dated March 19, Natelli Holdings will present its proposal for a data center in Lusby. The memo calls the project a “combined economic development initiative and regional park in Calvert County.”

It involves acquiring heavy industrial–zoned property adjacent to the Appeal Landfill to develop a data center campus, along with a $30 million investment to construct a regional park in District 1. The proposed park site is situated between three county public schools and would feature amenities outlined in Calvert County’s Dominion Energy Regional Park Master Plan, relocated from Dominion’s originally proposed property.

According to the presentation, Natelli Holdings will consider the construction of the park to be a requirement if it’s allowed to proceed with the data center project. Construction would begin no later than 12 months after closing on the county property.

This location has a landfill on one side and protected land on the other — the otherwise undevelopable location and the promise of a $30 million park investment may appear more promising than other discussions so far around Amazon AWS’s interest in a data center in Calvert County.

The presentation also states the data center would have economic and workforce benefits to the people in Calvert County. Residents have expressed concern about noise and environmental pollution and the long-term economic impacts of a data center, or data center campus, in Calvert.

Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 8 a.m. instead of the usual BOCC start time of 10 a.m. Natelli Holdings’ presentation is tentatively scheduled for the 11:30 a.m. work session portion of the meeting. It will be the last item before public comment.

Residents can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream at Meetings on Demand or the county’s YouTube channel.

  1. So I guess this park will be built after the park previously promised by the dominion scam.

  2. Why did the park across from Cove Point Road that we were supposed to get with the LNG plant never happen?

  3. Looks like a great plan for increased tax revenue, increasing property values, more jobs, and a park. The park design needs to replace two of the soccer fields with softball fields though. There is strong demand for that sport in this area.

  4. I comment on every one of these articles and I will continue to do so. The powers that be will get their data center whether the people like it or not. Look how they dangle the promise of a park in your face to get you to agree to the data center.
