On May 25, 2015, deputies received a LOJACK alert in the area of the Red Roof Inn located on Three Notch Road in California.
LOJACK confirmed the alert was for a stolen 2013 Ford F-250 reported to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Wesner responded to the rear parking lot and located the 2013 Ford F-250 Home Depot rental truck.
Deputy Wesner located suspect Joseph Andrew Townsend, age 23, of Waldorf, sleeping inside the cab.
Townsend was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Unlawful Taking of Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Removal/Use of Property, and Rental Motor Vehicle Failure to Return.
