On Nov. 27, Deputy Michael Boyer responded to a residence in Callaway for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, Deputy Boyer was informed there was a handgun in the vehicle being operated by Richard Cooper, 34 of Norfolk, Va. Deputy Boyer searched the vehicle and recovered a loaded .45 under the driver’s seat. Deputy Boyer further learned Cooper had been involved in an argument with his girlfriend earlier in the evening and struck her in the head with a bottle.
Copper was arrested, charged with Second-Degree Assault and a Firearms violation and released to the custody of the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
