SEVERNA PARK, Md. — On the morning of April 30, 2025, a Severna Park man was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in connection to a house fire earlier in the month that investigators say was intentionally set.
Anne Arundel County Fire and Arson Investigators, with assistance from county police special operations units, executed an arrest warrant for Aaron Keel, 59, at his home in Severna Park. Keel was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
The arrest follows an April 13 structure fire at 3 Belhaven Court, a residence owned by Stefanie and Matt Johnson. Fire crews from Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis responded to the blaze and were later joined by Fire/Arson/Explosives Investigators. The fire was determined to be incendiary and connected to an unlawful entry into the home, officials said.
Investigators from the county’s Fire Marshal’s Office spent the weeks following the fire conducting an in-depth investigation, ultimately identifying Keel as a suspect. Authorities said he lived in the same neighborhood as the victims.
During Wednesday’s operation, law enforcement officers also executed a search warrant at Keel’s home.
Keel has been formally charged with the following offenses:
- Felony First-Degree Arson
- Felony Second-Degree Arson
- Felony Malicious Burning
- Felony Home Invasion
- Felony Third-Degree Burglary
- Misdemeanor Malicious Burning
- Misdemeanor Burglary
- Misdemeanor Malicious Destruction of Property
Officials say the investigation is still active. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the county tip line at 410-222-TIPS.
