LAKE ARBOR, Md. — A man was critically injured and several firefighters hurt after a house fire with a reported trapped occupant led to a partial roof collapse Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026, in Lake Arbor.

The fire was reported around 8:04 a.m. in the 1100 block of Winding Brook Court, where Prince George’s County Fire Department crews arrived to find a two-story single-family home with heavy fire showing.

Firefighters were told someone was trapped inside and quickly entered the home to search. Crews located a 68-year-old man and removed him from the house just as part of the roof partially collapsed, according to officials.

The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Three firefighters were also taken for medical evaluation with minor injuries.

The fire was brought under control, but the damage displaced four residents. Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management assisted those impacted.

Fire investigators remained on scene working to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
