
UPDATE – 4/9/2-2026 – High-Speed Crash In Waldorf Claims Life Of Virginia Man
WALDORF, Md. — One person was killed and two others were injured in a serious crash Wednesday evening in Waldorf, prompting a large emergency response and a helicopter transport.
The incident was reported around 5:59 p.m. on April 8, 2026, on St. Patrick’s Drive near the Flagship Car Wash.
Initial callers reported a vehicle smoking at a nearby car wash, with one caller stating the driver appeared unconscious. Emergency crews arrived to find a crash involving a vehicle off the roadway, with two people trapped inside.
Firefighters worked to extricate the occupants while additional units stabilized the scene.
A 40-year-old man suffered fatal injuries. Emergency personnel initiated life-saving efforts at the scene before the patient was later classified as deceased.
A 63-year-old woman was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 helicopter to UM Capital Region Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. Authorities reported she was conscious and alert and complaining of chest and back pain.
A second male patient was transported by ambulance to UM Capital Region Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
St. Patrick’s Drive remains shut down between Western Parkway and Lancaster Circle and is expected to stay closed for an extended period as crews continue to investigate the crash and clear the scene.
Crews remained on scene for an extended period as they cleared the crash and investigated the circumstances.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
